Chops and Hops is located in the restaurant that used to be Mason Bleau.  This new restaurant just opened in January and so far appears to be well received.  The furnishings are mostly the same but the menu has changed to be more upscale Southern.  A relatively small list of wines is available but at reasonable prices.  The beer selection is considerable.  Chops, steaks, and sea food are the main fare. We have made reservations in the upstairs room where the noise level is not as high.  There is an elevator in the rear of the building on the north end to take you to the second floor if you don't enter through the first level main entrance.  The stairs are quite steep.  There is parking both in front and in back.

On our trial visit we enjoyed the food and service but found it difficult to carry on a conversation downstairs. The upstairs room should solve that problem!

Alice and I began coordinating the Newcomers Dining Out group in May of 2007.  This coming May will be our last month to do this enjoyable function, and we would like to encourage someone else to take the helm!  We will continue as passengers.
